Fundraising Resources

Fundraising is tough anywhere you are, so here are some resources to get you started.

The Foundation Center - THE place to research grants and foundations.  Also provides free and not-so-free trainings at their space and online and have a great library.   There are Foundation Centers in major cities around the country;  the DC location is 1627 K Street, NW, 3rd floor.

SALSA (The Social Action & Leadership School for Activists)  - they offer cheap trainings on many issues, including fundraising and grant-writing.  Trainings usually take place at the Institute for Policy Studies at 16th and L NW.

Grassroots Institute for Fundraising Training (GIFT) - THE place for grassroots fundraising.  Offers lots of articles, resources and trainings on how to survive without foundations.

Events:

Madam's Organ Non-profit Thursdays: every Thursday from 5:00-9:00pm, Madam's Organ gives a portion of its food and drink income to a non-profit group.  The group can also use the space for any event in that time.  Madam's Organ is on 18th Street NW in the heart of Adam's Morgan.  Sign up online and plan ahead, you usually get assigned a date a few months in the future.

Austin Grill First Mondays:  The first Monday of every month, Austin Grill gives a portion of its food sales to a local non-profit.  There are Austin Grills located in DC and the surrounding suburbs.  You sign up your organization by calling the Manager at the branch you think would work best for you.
