The Peace Center is starting a new educational series dealing with issues of the Permanent War Economy. Volunteers are needed to design and cultivate this series of interactive classes on the relations between militarism and economic and social injustices. This project is a offshoot of the Economics for the People! Project, which hosted films and speakers, and built a series of classes on local and international economics, workers' rights, Third World debt and more.

Members of the Youth Outreach Committee design and lead popular educational workshops in DC area high schools which provide youth an opportunity for dialogue on peaceful alternatives to militaristic conflict resolution and make connections between local, national and international social jusice issues. Volunteers are trained to lead workshops on civil liberties, racial profiling, globalization, and other issues. Volunteers can also , update and shape the curriculum and make contacts with schools.

The Anti-War Organizing League (AWOL) is charged with developing and representing the Peace Center's perspective on U.S. military aggression and intervention, as well as addressing the encroachment of militarism in civic life.  The Center is looking for volunteers who want to further the capacity of a standing, regional, anti-war action body of local peace organizations and individuals.  Volunteers are responsible for the maintenance of fax, phone and e-alert networking functions, forums, speakouts and long-term coalition building efforts around militarization.

The Community Organizing and Support Network encompasses all direct services to community action groups in the D.C. metropolitan area.  Volunteers coordinate equipment loans, share information on housing and meeting spaces, and develop information guides for community organizing.
