If you or your crew is planning on coming to Washington DC for the March 19th 2010 Funk the War, consider coming to the Consulta on February 13th in Washington DC! Learn what to expect for March 19th , share your vision for the streets, strategize with other participants, and plug into roles for Funk the War. And Valentines weekend won't just be all work and no play, there will be parties and other social events to complete this Bad Romance weekend!

A few things you may be wondering:

What is Funk the War?: Funk the War is a roving anti-war dance party in the streets, this Funk the War will be the 9th hosted by DC SDS but there have been others from Rochester, to Portland, to Drew University and beyond. Funk the War 9 will be March 19th, the 7th anniversary of the War in Iraq, and will be in Washington DC.

What is a Consulta?: A consulta is a meeting of people who will be participating in an action (in this case, March 19th Funk the War) to discuss what we want to see, what to expect, and how to plug in and make what we want to see happen. We would love for to be a part of this important step!

Spanish for "consultation", the the first widespread use of the word Consulta, as a large activist meeting, was for the Zapatista Consulta in 1999, and in general has been made popular by the alter-globalization movement.
